WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC TUNES: JANUARY 2012, VOL. 36

Respected names and faces take over the charts this week; especially those from Australia. Aussie producer tyDi partners with DJ Rap for some spectacular trance. Partners in crime from “Down Under”, Dirty South and Kate Elsworth pump out a massive single . Kyau & Albert have a hit remixed by some of the best in the business, Stoneface & Terminal.

1. DJ RAP, tyDi, MAISON & DRAGEN “TALKING TO MYSELF” [MAISON & DRAGEN REMIX] (S107 RECORDINGS)image

Release Date: 2012-01-23

"Talking To Myself" is quite the collaborative effort. Producing it is one of the younger DJ’s on the scene in tyDi only being 24. Partnering in the production is 42 year old DJ Rap who has been in the drum and bass scene for awhile. Then to take it over the top, Maison & Dragen are contracted to to the remix, one of the quickest rising duos in the game.

With all these elements in place, this is one unique production. You can hear the flow of trance, clearly coming from tyDi. In combination, are drum and bass hints, which are mellowed out by Maison & Dragen. The vocals on the track are smooth and soulful, giving it a deep and powerful presence.

tyDi has really been making a name for himself of lately. He has had some huge hits this past year with “Acting Crazy” and his weekly podcast “Global Soundsytem” continues to grow and develop. Don’t be shocked if tyDi continues to inch closer to the top 20 DJs on the DJMag top 100.

2. DIRTY SOUTH, THOMAS GOLD, KATE ELSWORTH “EYES WIDE OPEN” [ORIGINAL MIX] (PHAZING)image

Release Date: 2012-01-23

Dirty South, Thomas Gold, and Kate Elsworth are like the Pythagorean theorem; it adds up to the “right” amount every time. If you thought the summer smasher “Alive” was big, “Eyes Wide Open” might be bigger. The flow and feeling packed into this song show this team’s flawless production skills and instincts.

It is hard to say what shines more on this track; the instrumental or the vocals? Kate Elsworth brings us nothing less than perfection with her impeccable vocals that breathe life into the electro. Australian Dirty South and German Thomas Gold produce a live track. It is uplifting and could easily pass as a summer Ibiza hit, even in the middle of January.

More than likely this track will end up being #1 on the Beatport charts. At the very least, it will be a “must-have” track to be part of any DJ’s set. There’s no doubt that this trio should get together and produce an entire album or an EP. It would be great to see them work together on an extended time frame.

3. STONEFACE & TERMINAL, KYAU & ALBERT “MADE OF SUN” [STONEFACE & TERMINAL REMIX] (EUPHONIC)image

Release Date: 2012-01-16

German duo Kyau & Albert get remixed by some of the best in the business, Stoneface & Terminal. It is part of their “15 Years” series. The original track was released in 2005.

The track is transformed from pure trance, to a somewhat of a dubstep powered hybrid. Many filters are added to the vocals as well, to add a sense of acceleration. Deep basslines are hit, giving the remixed version more power and relevance to modern electro than the original.

Kyau & Albert have been around for awhile in the game. This past year has been impressive with a few big hits. Make sure to check out their podcast “Euphonic Sessions”, as it reflects their skill in song selection and mixing style

4. HARDWELL “SPACEMAN” [ORIGINAL MIX] (REVEALED RECORDINGS)image

Release Date: 2011-01-23

Hardwell continues his rise to fame, at an exceedingly rapid pace. His new single “Spaceman” just adds one more notch to his belt. This track is filled with energy and electro house, which we have come to love with Hardwell.

This track is actually somewhat reminiscent of his recent single titled “Cobra”. What we find here is some high BPM, bass infused beats. To give the subwoofers a rest, there are portions of the track which allow for buildup. This track is perfect for a large festival, as it has the energy to get a crowd going.

It can be openly stated that Hardwell is a young prodigy. He’s dominating the game with his EP’s and making a name for himself on Sirius radio with his show “Hardwell On Air”. Where he might impress you the most is on tour, at huge gigs such as Electric Daisy Carnival and Electric Zoo.

5. RICHARD GREY, FEDERICO SCAVO “LADY” [FEDERICO SCAVO REMIX] (TIGER RECORDS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-15

Usually tracks released more than a month ago don’t make this chart. An exception is made for this one, as there’s no denying its increasing popularity. Talk about a remix of a classic. “Lady” originally released by Modjo in 2001 gets a makeover.

If you compare the original to the remix, the best comparison that can be developed is Daft Punk morphs into Fedde le Grand infused house. The track is pure house bliss. The vocal loop is very catchy, and there’s enough bassline to give the track a bit of an edge.

Richard Grey has really only been producing straight house tracks, which have definitely limited his exposure in America. It has nothing to do with lack of skill, but more so the fact that house has had much less exposure than progressive house, electro house, and trance. This is a great big room shaker that is dominating the charts currently.

WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: JANUARY 2012, VOL. 35

Trance and progressive house dominate this week’s EDMTunes Charts. Songbird Emma Hewitt collaborates with the #1 DJ in the world, Armin van Buuren, to make a masterpiece. Trance duo Ost & Meyer pull of some Anjunabeats magic with “Britancia”. Breakfast catches EDM fans’ attention with a great new trance track.

1. EMMA HEWITT “COLOURS” [ARMIN VAN BUUREN REMIX] (ARMIND)

Release Date: 2012-01-16image

Australian songbird Emma Hewitt show all EDM fans why her voice is so sought after. “Colours” is an emotional trip, highlighting her vocal skills. Armin van Buuren does his magic by producing a remix to remember, giving it a progressive trance edge.

This is nothing new for Emma Hewitt. She has worked together with the likes of other great DJs such as Cosmic Gate and Gareth Emery to produce some amazing vocal trance tracks. She is like pictures to a magazine; she brings the music to life. Her wide vocal range offers flexibility to producers to push the limit on their tracks.

This should be a huge year for Hewitt. She will continue to collaborate with other great DJs. In addition, this is a great start to her solo career. She is easily a top 5 vocalist in the EDM scene; being right up there with stars such as Nadia Ali, Jwaydan and Tania Zygar.

2. OST & MEYER “BRITANICA” [ORIGINAL MIX] (ANJUNABEATS)

Release Date: 2012-01-09image

Hailing from Ukraine, Ost & Meyer burst on to the trance scene with a brilliant production. “Britanica” is song that could only be conceived under the keen eyes of an Anjuanbeats artist. Being a fairly new duo, they showcase why they are worth being signed to such a prestigious label.

This track uses quite a few different synths and relies heavily on melody to achieve its goal. The track gives a feel of adventure and discovery as it progresses. It even has a very slight tech house edge to it, which is interesting for a trance track.

Ost & Meyer give every EDM fan hope for 2012. They not only released this track, but also showcased another great song in “Scarlet Heaven”. This duo is a great card in Anjunabeat’s deck.

3. BREAKFAST, KEYWORTH “MEDIAN” [KEYWORTH REMIX] (ANJUNABEATS)

Release Date: 2012-01-16image

Breakfast, most notably known for his amazing remix skills, opens eyes with his single “Median” remixed by his alias Keyworth. Casey Keyworth (Breakfast) is a very talented DJ, having been quickly scooped up by Ferry Corsten’s label.

Keyworth showcases technical skills, as the remix of “Median” highlights great buildups and filters somewhat similar in style to that of famed DJ BT. The added piano notes add a haunting feeling to the track. This is a prime example of integration of various musical elements to produce something that is cutting edge and genre bending.

"Median" is on the same level as Breakfast’s previous hit "From the Earth". It will be interesting to see in the future if Breakfast focuses his efforts on the remix game, or goes the solo route on his own productions. Regardless, this is yet another Anjunabeats artist to follow closely.

4. MOGUAI “MPIRE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (MAU5TRAP)

Release Date: 2011-01-16image

German stud Moguai continues to his masterful productions with a great new single under deadmau5’s label mau5trap. “Mpire” is a pure progressive house track with the typical Moguai flow and style.

The attention to detail on this single is impressive. Synth elements, filters and even a little electro house are found in “Mpire”. The track is very catchy, and it hits harder than perceived on the first listen. There is even a slight hint of electric guitar, to give it an edge.

Moguai has been having a great last 12 months with big hits such as “Oxygen” and his remix of “Bangduck”. He also was impressive with his live sets, most notably Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Don’t be shocked if Moguai makes some huge moves on the DJMag chart rankings this year.

5. MAISON & DRAGEN “RIO DE JANEIRO” [ORIGINAL MIX] (ZOUK RECORDINGS)

Release Date: 2012-01-02image

Who is Maison & Dragen? Well, to keep it short and simple they are big newcomers to the EDM scene. Made up of Marcus Maison and Will Dragen, this Finnish DJ duo make us all feel good with this uplifting hit. Their skills are legitimate, having been discovered by the Armada label.

“Rio De Janeiro” has a true global feel to it. What is great about this track are the buildups. It is very euphoric in a sense and has a slight summer Ibiza style to it.

It will be fun to watch this duo grow. They have the skill set to produce and enhance existing tracks with a unique flavor. Keep an eye out for their remix of the new single by TyDi “Talking To Myself”.

WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: JANUARY 2012, VOL. 34

As we march into the deep winter, electro house flexes its muscles as it starts to tighten up its vice grip on the EDM movement. The young prince of Germany, Zedd, tops the charts with some block rockin’ beats. Nicky Romero shows us he means business with some dirty dutch. Ummet Ozcan shows the world that trance is evolving like a “Cocoon”.

1. ZEDD “SLAM THE DOOR” [ORIGINAL MIX] (OWSLA)image

Release Date: 2012-01-03

Zedd does a solo act this time with the release of his new electro house hit “Slam The Door”. That’s right, no Skrillex or Porter Robinson accompanying this track. The young German shows his innovation with this track by integrating humorous modulated vocals and fast paced beats.

Even though this track is thrown into the electro house genre, it is important to note that “Slam The Door” is much more complex. It significantly draws on elements of progressive house and dubstep.

It was only about a year ago that Zedd was in the process of dropping his massive single “Dovregubben” themed after the famous symphonic composition “In The Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg. He is an artist to watch crawl up the DJMag charts in 2012.

http://www.beatport.com/track/slam-the-door-original-mix/3201396

2. NICKY ROMERO “TOULOUSE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (SPINNIN RECORDS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-19

Young Dutch sensation Nicky Romero is having a phenomenal past 12 months. With huge hits like “Camorra” and “Beta” and a couple massive remixes with David Guetta, Romero is doing some serious work.

"Toulouse" is interesting; both in definition and style. First off, for those wondering, the term Toulouse is the name of a famed French painter. Maybe this is in correlation in style to the track. Romero integrates progressive build up with some massive drops.

Look out for Romero in 2012. Outside of his singles and remixes, Romero has been noted for outstanding live performances at places like Washington D.C.’s “Glow” and Denver’s “Beta”.

3. UMMET OZCAN “COCOON” [ORIGINAL MIX] (RESET RECORDS)image

Release Date: 2012-01-02

Another Dutch DJ gets his name on this week’s charts. Ummet Ozcan shows us the evolution of trance with his newly released single “Cocoon”.

Originally making its debut on Armin van Buuren’s “A State of Trance”, this track has a lot to live up to. “Cocoon” possesses trance beginnings with smooth progressive house transitions.

Ozcan will keep making a name for himself. He’s surrounded by the right label and the right artists to continue to grow as a DJ.

http://www.beatport.com/track/cocoon-original-mix/3203789

4. JOE GARSTON “THE PROMISE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (PLASMAPOOL)image

Release Date: 2011-01-02

Plasmapool hits the charts for another week, but this time with one its newer artists Joe Garston. At only 19, he can say that he has already hit the top 10 on Beatport with his rising single “The Promise”.

The vibe to the track is uplifting. Funky synths blend in with a melodic elements. The track still has that “Plasmapool” feel to it, as it truly is electro house based.

The track probably wont ever be a huge festival hit; however it deserves credit for uniqueness and going against the grain. At the very least, it is a slick production.

http://www.beatport.com/track/the-promise-original-mix/3202304

5. GENIX, MIKE KOGLIN “DYNO” [ORIGINAL MIX] (ANJUNABEATS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-19

Guess what? Yes, Anjunabeats just released another huge single with Genix and Mike Koglin. There seems to be no stop with this music label, fueled by prodigious talent and keen attention to detail.

This track, interestingly enough, was produced together by both artists, however they apparently never were in the same room together. This is impressive considering the fact this trance track relies heavily on melody to help make it flow.

Having already been featured on “Trance Around the World” with Above & Beyond, there is no denying its legitimacy. This is a must have track for EDM fans.

http://www.beatport.com/track/dyno-original-mix/3146023

WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: JANUARY 2012, VOL. 33

The first week of 2012 brings EDM fans some great electro house hits and even a little trance. Axwell, Ingrosso and Steve Angello prove why they’re a force to be reckoned with; even when they dabble in a new genre. Sander van Doorn continues his global dominance as he teams up with Bloc Party. Nadia Ali and Starkillers are the new Bonnie & Clyde of the EDM scene.

1. SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA, KNIFE PARTY “ANTIDOTE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (VIRGIN UK)image

Release Date: 2011-12-18

Swedish House Mafia and Knife Party make it to the top of the mountain on this week’s countdown. This is a huge electro house track. We get to see the progressive house world of SHM butt heads with the hard electro style of Knife Party, made up of two members from Pendulum, most notably Rob Swire.

It just seems the beat doesn’t stop on this track. They even have what I refer to as a little “Mord Fustang Wobble” in the track to hit the deep bass. The limited and tainted vocals add some more depth to the track.

In addition, if you haven’t checked out the explicit music video to “Antidote” you must do so immediately. Just envision yourself in the middle of video game, while you try to heist a strip club filled with Japanese gangsters. Easily one of the best EDM music videos; or most creative for that matter.

http://www.beatport.com/track/antidote-original-mix/3164046

2. SANDER VAN DOORN, KELE, LUCY TAYLOR “WHAT DID I DO WRONG” [ORIGINAL MIX] (DOORN RECORDS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-26

This is progressive house at its finest. Sander van Doorn really outdoes himself on this one as he lines up an all-star team to compliment him on this track with the likes of Kele (of Bloc Party) and Lucy Taylor. The track itself is essentially van Doorn’s remix of Kele’s original version, which was more drum & bass oriented.

The piano-like notes and stretched out synths are what give the track its progressive feel. It is interesting how Kele’s and Taylor’s vocals blended in so well on the remixed instrumental when they were hardly touched or adjusted. This track has a chance to unseat “Love Is Darkness” as van Doorn’s biggest pop oriented progressive house hit.

3. STARKILLERS, NADIA ALI “KEEP IT COMING” [ORIGINAL MIX] (SPINNIN RECORDS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-26

Starkillers and Nadia Ali. Haven’t we heard this combo before recently? This massive single follows up their 2011 smash hit “Pressure”. It is obvious that this is a pair that should definitely keep producing together.

It is amazing to see how Ali has progressed over the years. You can look back all the way to her bold start with iiO with “Rapture” to “Call My Name” this past year with Sultan & Shephard. She’s a unique player to the EDM scene, as she shows her longevity and wide array of skills.

Starkillers do what they do best on the instrumental by producing dirty house beats. This has big room feel all over it. A perfect track right now for any DJ to drop at the club.

http://www.beatport.com/track/keep-it-coming-original-mix/3181182

4. MORD FUSTANG “WE ARE NOW CONNECTED” [ORIGINAL MIX] (PLASMAPOOL)image

Release Date: 2011-12-19

Estonia’s finest, Mord Fustang, is one of EDM’s more well liked new artists to the scene. It is extremely difficult to believe that this kid started out in Eastern Europe, producing tracks made entirely on Fruity Loops.

This track is great for electro house. It eerily reminds me of his previous single “Milky Way” as either the synths or some other element are nearly duplicated.

What this track shows us is uniqueness. It proves that electro house does not have to be so interconnected to dubstep; but rather just be itself.

http://www.beatport.com/track/we-are-now-connected-original-mix/3174454

5. BJORN AKESSON, ALY, FILA, JWAYDAN “XANTIC” [ALY & FILA VS BJORN AKESSON  REMIX] (FUTURE SOUND OF EGYPT)image

Release Date: 2011-12-19

Is it not the year of Sweden or what? Akesson is starting to make a name for himself with his new track “Xantic”, after following up his highly respected “Painting Pyramids” track which made Armin van Buuren’s “A State of Trance”. Xantic, for those wondering, hints at the color yellow, which may be some sort of allegory to the sands of Egypt?

Egyptian superstars Aly & Fila as well as stunning vocalist Jwaydan team up on this remix. Aly & Fila bring the epic “build & drop” to the track. Jwaydan shows why she’s one of the best in the game right now, by making this a top vocal track. Maybe in 2012 Akesson can crack the DJMag Top 100.

WEEKLY TOP ELECTRONIC CHARTS: SPECIAL YEAR END TOP 20 COUNTDOWN

This is a special entry as we count down this year’s finest EDM hits of the year. 2011 was packed full of energy with great new albums from names we trust and smashing new singles from fresh faces to the scene.

Enjoy this countdown as you take in a great new year in 2012!

1. ABOVE & BEYOND, RICHARD BEDFORD “SUN & MOON” (ORIGINAL MIX) [ULTRA]image

Release Date: 2011-04-17

Jono, Tony and Paavo kicked 2011 off right with their massive, genre blurring single “Sun & Moon”. It is not only an amazing tracking from instrumental all the way to vocals with Richard Bedford, but this single combined with all of the other songs on their album “Group Therapy” have done wonders for the EDM movement. This single is filled with passion and emotion that only A&B know how to convey through their skillful conducting. The heart-wrenching vocals are so well written; definitely poetry at its finest. This powerful track is merely a glimspe at where the EDM genre (trance/progressive house to be specific) can and should aim for.

http://www.beatport.com/track/sun-and-moon-feat-richard-bedford-club-mix/1763820

2. ALY, FILA, JWAYDAN “WE CONTROL THE SUNLIGHT” (ORIGINAL MIX) [FUTURE SOUND OF EGYPT]image

Release Date: 2011-07-04

What we have here is simply put, the finest pure vocal trance track of the year. Aly & Fila continue to increase their skill set and advance with the trance world. It definitely doesn’t hurt to have a solid connection with Armin van Buuren via the Armada label. Jwaydan makes an excellent appearance on the single. Her voice is pure bliss while haunting at the same time. After the vocal chorus, the instrumental buildup is then combined with a massive drop. I don’t think you could really come across a much bigger song specifically for a festival than this one for trance fans. Aly & Fila are a DJ duo that will keep rising. Their Future Sounds of Egypt podcast is great as well; make sure to subscribe.

3. AVICII “LEVELS” (ORIGINAL MIX) [LE7ELS]image

Release Date: 2011-11-01

Say hello to the hottest DJ on the planet right now, Avicii. Call him what you want; Avicii, Tim Berg, Tom Hangs; it does not matter what alias you use. He just turned 22 this fall and is achieving what most could only dream of. Levels has now gathered somewhat of a cult following around it, being that unfortunately the likes of Flo Rida have copycatted the effort for worthless iTunes play at college bars. It is important to give credit to the genius behind the a capella, soul singer Etta James. The vocals integrated with a genius instrumental do create progressive house magic. This song was a lock down track on most DJs setlists throughout 2011. I think this track only hints at the talent that lies down the road for this young Swede.

http://www.beatport.com/track/levels-original-mix/3059880

4. MAT ZO, ARTY “REBOUND” (ORIGINAL MIX) [ANJUNABEATS]image

Release Date: 2011-04-18

Anjunabeats not only captures amazing talent under their massive label, but they do a great job promoting their music. Rebound is the best pure instrumental trance track of 2011. I think it is important to note these two amazing DJs. Mat Zo is 21. Arty is 22. Their age combined is less than that of famed DJ Benny Benassi; that’s ridiculous. The complexity and layering of the track is remarkable. The buildup combined with the looping is effortless. This is what Anjunabeats is all about. You take the best talent in the world and produce the smoothest engineered tracks out there. It is important to note how the track received rave reviews from competitor Armin van Buuren.

http://www.beatport.com/track/rebound-original-mix/1839852

5. FEDDE LE GRAND “SO MUCH LOVE” (ORIGINAL MIX) [TOOLROOM RECORDS]image

Release Date: 2011-08-26

What an absolutely massive year for Fedde le Grand, yet I feel nobody noticed. This will more than likely be the headline track that everyone remembers from Fedde in 2011, but lets not forget some of his other electro bangers with Control Room, Metrum and Autosave. His remix of Coldplay’s “Paradise” is stellar as well. “So Much Love” is such an uplifting track. It just makes you feel good. The original song “So Much Love To Give” by Thomas Bangalter and DJ Falcon was carefully resculpted under the keen eye of Fedde into a huge summer progressive house hit. This single not only dominated sets but Beatport as well. This was a year of renaissance for Fedde, showing why he’s a top 25 DJ in the world.

19. MORD FUSTANG “LICK THE RAINBOW” (ORIGINAL MIX) [PLASMAPOOL]

Release Date: 2011-04-11

It’s unbelievable that this kid is 20 years old and is making genre blurring music. This track has a lot of “wobble” and was the lead track for electro house in 2011.

20. MICHAEL CALFAN “RESURRECTION” (AXWELL’S RECUT CLUB VERSION) [AXTONE RECORDS]

Get out of the way David Guetta, this Frenchman is for real. Calfan hooks up with Swedish House Mafia’s Axwell to make a vibing progressive house hit.

**Look for my end of the year minimix next week with the top 25 songs of 2011**

1. MAT ZO, ARTY “MOZART” [ORIGINAL MIX] (Anjunabeats)image

Release Date: 2011-12-11

"Mozart" reaches #1, after being #3 last week on the countdown. Mat Zo and Arty have really outdone themselves on this one. We have great buildup, unique and futuristic synths and a vibe that is unparalleled. Anjunabeats knows talent when they see it!

2. SWEDISH HOUSE MAFIA, KNIFE PARTY “ANTIDOTE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (EMI UK)image

Release Date: 2011-12-18

Swedish House Mafia have hit another big one with their mashup track with Knife Party. This is slightly a new route for SHM as they haven’t dabbled to much in electro house, and have been more progressive house. If you haven’t seen the video to the track, make sure you check out the explicit version on their VEVO.

3. KNIFE PARTY “INTERNET FRIENDS” [ORIGINAL MIX] (EARSTORM)image

Release Date: 2011-12-11

Knife Party part deux here! Some heavy electro house on this track. Pendulum members Rob Swire and Gareth McGrilen make up Knife Party. It is a unique mixture of rock, electro and dubstep all blend into one. The electronic voice is brings a sense of humor and mischievousness to the track.

4. W&W, BREE “NOWHERE TO GO” [ORIGINAL MIX] (S107 RECORDINGS)image

Release Date: 2011-12-06

Vocal trance here at its finest. W&W hail from the Netherlands. They feature US vocalist Bree on the track. In case you were by chance wondering, yes W&W are signed under Armin van Buuren. The song is smooth and I love the effects on the vocals, making it very uplifting.

5. SHOGUN “LOTUS” [ORIGINAL MIX] (Armind)image

Release Date: 2011-12-12

Shogun is back in the top #5 for another week. He’s technically on the list twice, as he remixed the above W&W track. This track will more than likely go down as having the best a capella of 2011. This track definitely brings me peace of mind.

1. SHOGUN “LOTUS” [ORIGINAL MIX] (Armind)image

Release Date: 2011-12-12

We welcome Shogun this week to #1 on the charts. Originally from Taiwan, Shogun is intriguing to study as he is able to incorporate various Asian elements to song; not musically but more along the lines of themes and vocals with songs such as “Skyfire” and “Lotus”. Melissa Loretta does an absolute stunning job on vocals. This in my opinion is one of the best vocal a cappellas I’ve heard on an EDM track in 2011. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a great artist under Armin van Buuren’s Armind label.

2. DEADMAU5 “AURAL PSYNAPSE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (mau5trap)image

Release Date: Not yet released on Beatport

Joel Zimmerman AKA deadmau5 stays in the top #5 for another week. The song defines progressive house instrumental-wise. In addition it is classic deadmau5 feel, with the continuous synths and next generation feel. I still think it is crazy how this release is actually a 2nd edit of the original from 2001. Who says you can’t kill two birds with one stone?

3. MAT ZO, ARTY “MOZART” [ORIGINAL MIX] (Anjunabeats)image

Release Date: 2011-12-11

Massive single from Anjunabeats! I could not have thought of two better progressive house artists to put together than Mat Zo and Arty. They’re both musical geniuses and are different enough yet similar. How do they get the name Mozart? Well to the layman it may seem it is a combination with their names. To the insider it is more of a blend of classic piano with house synths. A hit that works perfect for the festival.

4. ROBERT NICKSON, RE:LOCATE “RESOURCE” [ORIGINAL MIX] (A State of Trance)image

Release Date: 2011-11-28

Dutch DJs Nickson and Re:locate collaborate together under another one of Armin van Buuren’s labels; A State of Trance. This has a classic trance feel to it, with a chorus that gives it a new school vibe. It is very interesting to see how they integrate bass guitar into the instrumental and actually make it work. No wonder it made it as a track on Universal Religion Chapter 5.

5. CHUCKIE “WHO IS READY TO JUMP” [ORIGINAL MIX] (Big Beat Records)image

Release Date: 2011-11-22

Are you ready to jump? We definitely have some Dirty Dutch here. If this doesn’t get you energized, than I don’t know what will. I love the mixture of live yelling, similar to that of Lil’ Jon, yet staying true to form with the electro house genre. Chuckie is an up and comer as well as a gamechanger. I mean, he did coin the term “Dirty Dutch”!
